The president of France, officially the president of the French Republic (french: Président de la République française), is the executive head of state of France, and the commander-in-chief of the French Armed Forces. Marcel Grandjany
Marcel Georges Lucien Grandjany ( ) (3 September 1891 – 24 February 1975) was a French-American harpist and composer. Biography Early life Marcel Grandjany was born in Paris and began the study of the harp at the age of eight with Henriette Renié. At age eleven, he was admitted to the Conservatoire de Paris, where he studied with Alphonse Hasselmans, winning the coveted Premier Prix at age thirteen. Career At seventeen he made his debut with the Concerts Lamoureux Orchestra, and gave his first solo recital, winning immediate acclaim. He appeared with Maurice Ravel in Paris in 1913. His London debut was in 1922 and his New York debut in 1924. He appeared as soloist with major orchestras under the direction of Gabriel Pierné, Alfred Cortot, Walter Damrosch, Serge Koussevitzky, George Szell, Fritz Reiner and Vladimir Golschmann, among others. Joseph-Marie Martin
Joseph-Marie Martin (9 August 1891 – 21 January 1976) was a French Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Archbishop of Rouen from 1948 to 1971, and was elevated to the cardinalate in 1965. Biography Joseph-Marie-Eugene Martin was born and baptised in Orléans. He later dropped the name "Eugene". He studied at the seminary in Bordeaux before serving in the French Army during World War I, during which he was seriously wounded. Martin was ordained to the priesthood on 18 December 1920, and then did pastoral work in the Archdiocese of Bordeaux until 1940. He was vicar general of Bordeaux from 1937 to 1940 as well. On 9 February 1940, Martin was appointed Bishop of Le Puy-en-Velay by Pope Pius XII. He received his episcopal consecration on the following 2 April from Archbishop Maurice Feltin, with Bishops Clément Mathieu and Louis Liagre serving as co-consecrators, in the Cathedral of Bordeaux. Yvette Andréyor (born Yvette Louise Pauline Royé, 6 August 1891 – 30 October 1962) was a French actress most popular in the era of silent film. She appeared in more than 100 films between 1910 and 1962. Biography Yvette Louise Pauline Royé was born at the maternity hospital of Port-Royal in the 14th arrondissement of Paris on 6 August 1891 to Jean-Baptiste André Royé, an artist, and Marie-Louise Carcel. At six, she made her debut on the stage of the Théâtre de l'Odéon. She continued her artistic training at the conservatory where she won an award in 1913. Afterwards, she began performing at the Antoine theater and in Belgium. Yvette Royé changed her name to Yvette Andréyor and made her film debut in 1910. She starred in ''Le haleur'' (1911) alongside Léonce Perret, who also directed and wrote it, and in ''Le Bossu'' (1912). Marcel-Frédéric Lubin-Lebrère (July 21, 1891 – July 7, 1972) was a French rugby union player who competed in the 1924 Summer Olympics. An article on French rugby by Paul Rees in the UK newspaper "The Guardian' on 14 January 2021 included the following: "Only one player from the 1914 side was involved in 1920, the Toulouse prop and occasional second-row Marcel-Frédéric Lubin-Lebrère, who was a survivor in more than one sense. Left for dead after being shot 14 times during the Somme, he was taken captive by the Germans. When he returned home, he had lost the sight in one eye. He was arrested the night before the match in Dublin, along with his teammates Théophile Cambre and Jean Sébédio, for singing revolutionary songs in a pub with sympathisers of the IRA at a time of the Irish war of independence. He is best known for the Thanase Pequeu stories of which three volumes were published in the 1930s.
