The 1887 South Australian Football Association season was the 11th season of the top-level Australian rules football competition in South Australia. 1887 saw Gawler, Hotham and West Adelaide join the SAFA with the last of those bearing no relation to the modern day Bloods. 1886 SAFA Season
The 1886 South Australian Football Association season was the 10th season of the top-level Australian rules football competition in South Australia. This was the first season in South Australia that quarters were played, allowing ends to be changed four times per match. The thirty games played had crowd figures quoted for an approximate average of 2,055 spectators per game. Norwood Football Club
Norwood Football Club, nicknamed the Redlegs, is an Australian rules football club competing in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) in the state of South Australia. Its home ground is Coopers Stadium (Norwood Oval), which is often referred to as "The Parade". It is one of the two traditional powerhouse clubs of the SANFL, the other being Port Adelaide, who together have won half of all SANFL premierships (see Port Adelaide–Norwood SANFL rivalry). The club has won 31 SANFL premierships and 1 SANFLW premiership. North Adelaide Football Club (1881–1888)
The North Adelaide Football Club (1888) originally known as the Hotham Football Club prior to 1888 was an Australian rules football club based in South Australia. An Annual General meeting was held at Wednesday 16 March 1881 at Princess Royal Hotel, North Adelaide during which it was agreed that they retain their Dark Blue Colours from the previous season. At an Annual General meeting held on 7 April 1884 of the Hotham and Triton Football Clubs it was agreed that the Clubs would merge under the Hothams. At Annual General meeting held at Huntsman Hotel, North Adelaide on 4 March 1885 it was reported out of 12 games - there was 5 wins and 7 losses. Adelaide Football Club (SAFA)
The Adelaide Football Club, often referred to as the Old Adelaide Football Club, was an Australian rules football club based in Adelaide. Founded on 26 April 1860, it was the first football club formed in South Australia. The club played interclub football in South Australia until 1872, when it had disputes with Kensington and Port Adelaide over the rules, but club resumed interclub matches in 1875. In 1876, the Adelaide Club rules were adopted by all the South Australian clubs at a meeting organised by Charles Kingston from the South Adelaide Football Club, and in 1877, the Adelaide club captain Richard Twopeny called an initial meeting which led to the formation of the South Australian Football Association (SAFA) and participated in the competition from 1877–81 and 1885–93. Alberton Oval
Alberton Oval is located in Alberton, a north-western suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. The ground is a public park and is exclusively leased to the Port Adelaide Football Club for Australian rules football. History With the nearby Queenstown Oval built upon in 1876, the Alberton and Queenstown Council opted to construct a cricketing ground on the land adjacent Brougham Place in 1876. The land was donated by the former Mayor of Port Adelaide, John Formby. Kensington Oval, Adelaide
The Kensington Oval is located on 344 The Parade, Kensington, South Australia. Now used primarily for cricket in South Australia, the venue was once Adelaide's premier athletics facility and known as Olympic Sports Field. Early history From an area originally known as Shipsters Paddock, Kensington Oval was officially opened on Saturday, 10 July 1875. The ground was originally used for a range of sports including Australian Rules Football. The Kensington Football Club and the Norwood Football Club played at the oval between 1875 and 1897.
