Clara Nordström
Clara Nordström, maiden name and pseudonym for Clara Elisabet von Vegesack, (January 18, 1886 in Karlskrona, Sweden – February 7, 1962 in Mindelheim, West Germany) was a German writer and translator of Swedish descent. With the themes of her writing and her Swedish maiden name she profited from the German interest for Scandinavian writers. Biography Born the daughter of a physician and a peasant woman in Karlskrona and brought up in Växjö (Sweden), she was bed-ridden owing to illness up to her twelfth year. It was only after that, from about 1897, that she started to frequent various private schools in Växjö. In 1903, she went to Hildesheim (Germany) and shortly afterwards to Braunschweig (Germany) in order to learn the German language. On April 17, 1905 she married, in Växjö, the son of her teacher, 15 years her senior, and in 1906 gave birth to their son Gustav Adolf. Isak Albert Berg
Isak Albert Berg (22 September 1803, Stockholm - 1 December 1886), was a Swedish opera tenor, composer and singing pedagogue. He was a ''Hovsångare'' and a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music (1831). Isak Albert Berg graduated from Uppsala University in 1824. He was a student of Giuseppe Siboni in Copenhagen, and toured Germany and Italy in the 1820s. He was the song master of the Royal Swedish Opera in 1831-1850 and in 1861-1870. Berg was one of the most famed music pedagogues in contemporary Sweden and the teacher of many later famed artists. Among his students were Jenny Lind, Oscar Arnoldson, Elma Ström and Mathilda Gelhaar. Eva Andén
Eva Johanna Andén (23 April 1886 – 26 March 1970) was a Swedish lawyer. She became the first woman member of the Swedish Bar Association on 14 March 1918. Life Eva Andén was born to the merchant Heribert Andén and Elin Forssman. In 1907, she became a law student at the University of Uppsala, where she was the only female member of her class, and graduated in 1912. In 1912–1913, she toured Sweden and gave legal lectures on behalf of the National Association for Women's Suffrage (Sweden); in 1913–1914 she was employed as a notary at the legal court of Falun, and in 1914–1915, she practiced law in the firm of Johan Tjerneld, secretary of the Swedish Bar Association. In 1915, she took over the law firm of Anna Pettersson in Stockholm. The second woman lawyer in Sweden, Mathilda Staël von Holstein, practiced in her firm in 1919–1923. Östen Undén
Bo Östen Undén (25 August 1886 – 14 January 1974) was a Swedish academic ( J.D.), civil servant and Social Democratic politician who served as acting Prime Minister of Sweden 6–11 October 1946, following the death of Per Albin Hansson (1885-1946). In 1917, he was appointed professor and head of the department of civil law at Uppsala University, but he came to divide his career between politics and academia, which prompted his resignation from the position as rector magnificus (1929–1932) of that university. He served as the foreign ministry's expert on international law, as Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden 1924–1926 and 1945–1962, minister without portfolio 1917–1920 and 1932–1936, the government's chancellor for universities 1937–1951, and he chaired the parliament's committee on foreign relations during World War II. Tora Armida Dahl (9 June 1886 – 30 January 1982) was a Swedish teacher and novelist. She was married to literary critic Knut Jaensson. Among her novels is ''Fosterbarn'' from 1954. Brita Von Horn
Brita Clara Alice Augusta Florence von Horn (1 April 1886 – 14 February 1983) was a Swedish novelist, dramatist, director and theatre leader. She worked in the theatre scene in Stockholm and published several books. Career von Horn was born in Stockholm, Sweden and was the daughter of chamberlain Henning von Horn and baroness Florence Bonde. She was the aunt of major general Carl von Horn and colonel Jan von Horn. von Horn started several theatrical groups and was the first person to stage a play by Anton Chekhov in Sweden. In the early 1930s she started the Theater at Sveavägen, which however went bankrupt after only a few years. In 1940, she was a co-founder with Vilhelm Moberg and Helge Hagerman of the Dramatist Studio of Sweden ( sv, Sveriges dramatikers studio, ''Dramatikerstudion'').
