Sofia Adlersparre
Sofia Adolfina Adlersparre (6 March 1808 – 23 March 1862) was a Swedish painter from the Adlersparre family. Biography She was born the daughter of a Lutheran nobleman, Axel Adlersparre, governor of Öland, and Carolina von Arbin, and displayed a talent for painting in childhood. When the artist C. F. Pedersen became shipwrecked near her home, she was taught by him, and when her family moved to Stockholm in 1830, she was educated by the artists Carl Gustaf Qvarnström (1810–1867), Johan Gustaf Sandberg and Olof Johan Södermark (1790–1848). She debuted in 1836 when Crown Princess, Josephine of Leuchtenberg, the future Queen of Sweden, ordered a painting from her and introduced her to useful contacts. Adlersparre made several trips to study art abroad, to Germany, Italy and France. In 1839–1840, she studied under Leon Coignet in Paris, where she met Carl Wahlbom and Per Wickenberg. Sofia ( ; bg, София, Sofiya, ) is the capital and largest city of Bulgaria. It is situated in the Sofia Valley at the foot of the Vitosha mountain in the western parts of the country. Louise Sophie Alexandra Skoglund (1862–1938) was a Swedish suffragette, women's rights activist and politician. Life Skoglund was born 22 October 1862 in Stockholm, Sweden. Skoglund graduated from Högre lärarinneseminariet in 1883. She was a teacher at the Åhlinska skolan in 1912–1933. In 1902–1903, she was one of the founders of the National Association for Women's Suffrage. After the Country Association for Women's Suffrage had abandoned its political neutrality in 1911, when the conservative Moderate Party was the only party left opposed to women suffrage, Alexandra Skoglund was one of the right wing suffragists to create the Moderate Association for Women's Suffrage. Hilma af Klint (; 26 October 1862 – 21 October 1944) was a Swedish artist and mysticism, mystic whose paintings are considered among the first Abstract art, abstract works known in Western art history. A considerable body of her work predates the first purely abstract compositions by Wassily Kandinsky, Kandinsky, Kazimir Malevich, Malevich and Piet Mondrian, Mondrian. She belonged to a group called "The Five", comprising a circle of women inspired by Theosophy, who shared a belief in the importance of trying to contact the so-called "Masters of the Ancient Wisdom, High Masters"—often by way of séances. Her paintings, which sometimes resemble diagrams, were a visual representation of complex spiritual ideas. Olof Bergqvist (24 September 1862 – 20 October 1940) was a Swedish bishop. He was the first bishop in the Diocese of Luleå, serving in that office from 1904 to 1937.Swedish Dictionary of National Biography article (in Swedish).
