Byron Moffatt Britton
Byron Moffatt Britton (September 3, 1833 – November 19, 1920) was a Canadian politician, lawyer and lecturer. He was elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the 1896 election to represent the riding of Kingston. He was re-elected in 1900. The son of Daniel Britton and Nancy Moffatt, both Americans who had come to Upper Canada, he was educated at Victoria University in Cobourg, studied law in Toronto and Belleville and was called to the bar in 1859. Britton set up practice in Kingston. In 1875, he was named Queen's Counsel. He was Crown Attorney for Frontenac county from 1883 to 1891. Britton also served on the board of governors for Kingston General Hospital. In 1863, he married Mary E., the daughter of Luther Hamilton Holton. Prior to his federal experience, he was a councillor, then mayor of Kingston, Ontario (1876–1877). He was appointed Judge of the Court of King's Bench for Ontario on September 24, 1901. The premier of Manitoba (french: premier ministre du Manitoba) is the first minister (i.e., head of government or chief executive) for the Canadian province of Manitoba—as well as the ''de facto'' President of the province's Executive Council. In formal terms, the premier receives a commission to form a government from the Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba, who represents the monarch at the provincial level. Henry Joseph Clarke
Henry Joseph Clarke (July 7, 1833 – September 13, 1889), who sometimes used the middle names Hynes and O'Connell, was a lawyer and politician in Manitoba, Canada. Born in Donegal (now in the Republic of Ireland) on July 7, 1833, Clarke moved with his family to Canada at age three. He practiced law in Montreal, Lower Canada, before moving to California during the "gold rush" of 1858, and also lived in El Salvador for a period in the early 1860s. He returned to Montreal after this time, and developed a strong reputation as a criminal lawyer. Clarke ran for Province of Canada's parliament as a Liberal-Conservative in the 1863 election, losing to Liberal finance minister Luther Hamilton Holton in the riding of Chateauguay. In 1867, he wrote a short biography of fellow Irish Catholic politician Thomas D'Arcy McGee. John Waldie
John Waldie (April 22, 1833 – June 12, 1907) was a Canadian politician and businessman. Biography Born in Hawick, Roxburghshire, Scotland, he moved to Canada West when still a youth. When the rest of his family moved to Huron County to establish a farm, he decided to remain in Nelson Township, becoming a prominent wheat merchant. He was Reeve of Nelson Township for two years, and was instrumental in incorporating the Village of Wellington Square in 1873. After Wellington Square was amalgamated with Port Nelson to become the Village of Burlington late that year, he became its Reeve for five years. During that time, he was also Warden of Halton County for two years. In 1885, he sold his interest in his business to his partner, and became a lumber baron, moving to Toronto in the process. Edward Blake
Dominick Edward Blake (October 13, 1833 – March 1, 1912), known as Edward Blake, was the second premier of Ontario, from 1871 to 1872 and leader of the Liberal Party of Canada from 1880 to 1887. He is one of only three federal permanent Liberal leaders never to become Prime Minister of Canada, the others being Stéphane Dion and the latter's immediate successor Michael Ignatieff.
