''Aftonbladet'' (, lit. "The evening paper") is a Swedish daily newspaper published in Stockholm, Sweden. It is one of the largest daily newspapers in the Nordic countries. History and profile The newspaper was founded by Lars Johan Hierta in December 1830 under the name of ''Aftonbladet i Stockholm'' during the modernization of Sweden. Often critical and oppositional, the paper was repeatedly banned from publishing. However, Hierta circumvented the bans by constantly reviving the paper under slightly modified names, as, legally speaking, a new publication. Thus, on 16 February 1835, he issued the first edition of New Aftonbladet, which would – after yet another ban – be followed by Newer Aftonbladet, in turn followed by Fourth Aftonbladet, Fifth Aftonbladet, and so on. In 1852 the paper began to use its current name, ''Aftonbladet'', after a total of 25 name changes. It currently describes itself as an "independent social-democratic newspaper." Aurore von Haxthausen (''Gustava Charlotta Märta Aurora'': 1830 in Daretorp in Västergötland – 7 February 1888 in Stockholm), known also by her artist pseudonym as Klara Kuhlman, was a Swedish author, composer, pianist and lady in waiting. Gumman Strömberg
Johanna Strömberg née Malmberg (1830–1894), was a Swedish fishmonger. She worked in the Stockholm fish market from 1854 until 1894, and became a well-known figure in contemporary Stockholm, known as Gumman Strömberg (Old woman Strömberg). She was a successful entrepreneur in her trade with customers among the embassies and finest restaurants. She kept an open house for the poor and the capital's bohemian world, helping several artists. Life Johanna Strömberg was born to a poor worker in Tierp. At the age of fifteen, she became a maid to a fish merchant in Stockholm. She married Karl Berg, the son of her employer, and learned the fish trade. Karin Dorothea Wilhelmina Åhlin (25 November 1830 – September 30, 1899) was a Swedish educator. She was the founder and director of the ''Åhlinska skolan'' in Stockholm, and its principal from 1847 to 1900. Biography Karin Åhlin was born and raised in Stockholm as the eldest daughter of Major Paul Pehr Åhlin and Wilhelmina Gustafva Norberg. After the death of her mother in 1847, she was left with the responsibility of raising and educating her younger siblings at the age of seventeen. At this point, the normal profession for a middle-class girl in need to support herself was that of a teacher, and she started to give lessons in her home to not only her siblings but also to paying pupils.
