In the 1816 elections in Pennsylvania, David Scott (DR) won one of the two seats in the , but resigned before the 15th Congress began, having been appointed judge of the court of common pleas. A special election was held on October 14, 1817, to fill the resulting vacancy. 15th United States Congress
The 15th United States Congress was a meeting of the legislative branch of the United States federal government, consisting of the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives. It met in the Old Brick Capitol in Washington, D.C. from March 4, 1817, to March 4, 1819, during the first two years of James Monroe's presidency. The apportionment of seats in the House of Representatives was based on the Third Census of the United States in 1810. Both chambers had a Democratic-Republican majority. John Murray (congressman)
John Murray (1768 – March 7, 1834) was a member of the United States House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. John Murray was born near Pott's Grove, Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1807 to 1810. Murray was elected as a Republican to the Fifteenth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of David Scott. He was reelected to the Sixteenth Congress.
