On May 16, 1815, Representative-Elect Jonathan Williams (DR) who'd been elected for , died before the start of the 14th Congress. A special election was held on October 10 of that year to fill the vacancy left by his death. Jonathan Williams (engineer)
Jonathan Williams (May 20, 1750May 16, 1815) was an American businessman, military figure, politician and writer. He became Chief of Engineers of the Army Corps of Engineers, was the first superintendent of United States Military Academy, and was elected to the Fourteenth United States Congress. Biography Williams was born in Boston in the Province of Massachusetts Bay and attended Harvard University. Williams, a grandnephew of Benjamin Franklin, in 1779 married Marianne Alexander, a Scottish girl, daughter of William Alexander a friend of Benjamin Franklin. His stay in Europe He spent most of the period from 1770 to 1785 in England and France. In January 1777, aged 26, at the suggestion of Silas Deane, Jonathan Williams went to Nantes to keep a close eye on Thomas Morris, who had just taken up the post of commercial agent. The 14th United States Congress was a meeting of the legislative branch of the United States federal government, consisting of the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives. John Sergeant (politician)
John Sergeant (December 5, 1779 – November 23, 1852) was an American politician who represented Pennsylvania in the United States House of Representatives. He was the National Republican Party's vice presidential nominee in the 1832 presidential election, serving on a ticket with Senator Henry Clay. After graduating from Princeton University, Sergeant served in the Philadelphia government and won election to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. As a member of the Federalist Party, he won election to the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1815 to 1823. In Congress, he supported Clay's American System and opposed the extension of slavery, voting against the Missouri Compromise. After serving as president of the Pennsylvania Board of Canal Commissioners, Sergeant returned to Congress in 1827. John Conard
John Conard (November 15, 1773May 9, 1857) was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. He was nicknamed the "Fighting Quaker". John Conard was born in Chester Valley in the Province of Pennsylvania. He was educated at the Friends School. He moved to Germantown, Pennsylvania about 1795. He studied law, was admitted to the bar and practiced. He was a professor of mathematics at the local academy in Germantown. Conard was elected as a Democratic-Republican to the Thirteenth Congress.
