General Ticket
The general ticket, also known as party block voting (PBV) or ticket voting, is a type of block voting in which voters opt for a party, or a team's set list of candidates, and the highest-polling party/team becomes the winner. Unless specifically altered, this electoral system (''at-large'' voting) results in the victorious political party receiving ''100%'' of the seats. Rarely used today, the general ticket is usually applied in more than one multi-member district, which theoretically allows regionally strong minority parties to win some seats, but the strongest party nationally still typically wins with a landslide. Samuel Dinsmoor
Samuel Dinsmoor (July 1, 1766 – March 15, 1835) was an American teacher, lawyer, banker and politician from New Hampshire. He served as the 14th governor of New Hampshire and as a member of the United States House of Representatives. Early life Born in 1766 in Windham, New Hampshire, Windham in the Province of New Hampshire, Dinsmoor was the son of William and Elizabeth (Cochran) Dinsmoor. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1789, worked as a teacher, studied law and was admission to the bar in the United States, admitted to the bar. He established a law practice in Keene, New Hampshire, where he was appointed as Postmaster in 1808. He helped organize the Keene light infantry and was the infantry commander. George Sullivan (representative)
George Sullivan (August 29, 1771 – April 14, 1838) was an American politician who served as a U.S. Representative from New Hampshire, as well as a State Representative, Senator and Attorney General of New Hampshire. Born in Durham, New Hampshire, Sullivan attended Phillips Exeter Academy and was graduated from Harvard University in 1790. He studied law, was admitted to the bar, and commenced practice in Exeter, New Hampshire, in 1793. He served as member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives in 1805 and as Attorney General of New Hampshire in 1805 and 1806. Sullivan was elected as a Federalist to the Twelfth Congress (March 4, 1811 – March 3, 1813). He was again a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives in 1813. Obed Hall
Obed Hall (December 23, 1757 – April 1, 1828) was an American politician and a United States representative from New Hampshire. Early life Born in Raynham in the Province of Massachusetts Bay, Hall later moved to Madbury and then to Bartlett, Carroll County, New Hampshire and engaged in agricultural pursuits. Career Since travel at that time was hazardous, Hall became an innkeeper at his farm, which was considered benefactor to the traveling public rather than businessman. Mr Hall was one of two appointed as Surveyor of Highways petitioned the General Court in 1793 for a tax of one penney per acre to be used for the improvement of roads within the town. A member of the board of selectmen, Hall served as a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives. Josiah Butler (December 4, 1779 – October 27, 1854) was an American politician and a United States House of Representatives, United States Representative from New Hampshire. John Adams Harper (November 2, 1779 – June 18, 1816) was an American politician and a United States Representative from New Hampshire. Early life Born in Derryfield, New Hampshire, Harper attended Phillips Exeter Academy in 1794. He studied law and was admitted to the bar about 1802, commencing practice in Sanbornton. Career Harper was the first postmaster of Sanbornton, then moved to Meredith Bridge (now Laconia, Belknap County) in 1806. He served as clerk of the New Hampshire Senate, 1805–1808, was a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives in 1809 and 1810. He served in the State militia, 1809–1812. John Fabyan Parrott
John Fabyan Parrott (August 8, 1767July 9, 1836) was a United States representative and a Senator from New Hampshire. He was born in Portsmouth in the Province of New Hampshire to John Parrott, a merchant and ship captain, and his wife Deborah Walker. He followed his father's line of work and began trading in Europe and the Caribbean, something which stopped with the passing of the Embargo Act of 1807. Parrott was a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 1809 to 1814 and also held various local offices. He was an unsuccessful candidate for election in 1812 to the Thirteenth Congress, but was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives for the Fifteenth Congress, serving from March 4, 1817 to March 3, 1819. Josiah ( or ) or Yoshiyahu; la, Iosias was the 16th king of Judah (–609 BCE) who, according to the Hebrew Bible, instituted major religious reforms by removing official worship of gods other than Yahweh. Josiah is credited by most biblical scholars with having established or compiled important Hebrew scriptures during the "Deuteronomic reform" which probably occurred during his rule. Josiah became king of the Kingdom of Judah at the age of eight, after the assassination of his father, King Amon. Josiah reigned for 31 years, from 641/640 to 610/609 BCE. Early life Born in Middletown in the Connecticut Colony, Wilcox studied law with Benjamin A. Gilbert; was admitted to the bar in 1802 and commenced practice in Orford Grafton County, New Hampshire. Career Wilcox served as member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 1809 to 1811. Elected as a Federalist to the Thirteenth and Fourteenth Congresses, Wilcox served as United States Representative for the state of New Hampshire (March 4, 1813 – March 3, 1817).
