Frederik Georg Adeler
Frederik Georg Adeler (1736-1810) was a Danish-Norwegian county official and landowner. He was the son of Frederik Adeler, as well as great-grandchild of Admiral Cort Adeler. Frederik Georg Adeler inherited and lived on the large estate at the Gimsøy Abbey with a manor house and headquarters at Klosterøya in Skien. He served as the County Governor and Diocesan Governor in various counties from 1764 until 1788. Adeler served in the military from 1755 until 1764, reaching the rank of Major. After leaving the military, he was appointed county governor of Bratsberg on 30 July 1764, when he was 28 years old. On 20 February 1771, he was transferred against his will to be the county governor of Lister og Mandal county, because "his right of first refusal for timber, as owner of Gimsø, came into conflict with his office" in Bratsberg. Ole Hovelsen Mustad
Ole Hovelsen Mustad (12 March 1810 – 24 February 1884) was a Norwegian businessperson and politician. He was instrumental in shaping the company O. Mustad & Søn, and served one term in the Norwegian Parliament. Biography He was born in Vardal as the son of Kari Tollefsdatter Bjørnstad (1782–1858) and her second husband Haavel Eriksen Kaas (1784–1849). In 1843 he took over the company ''Brusveen Spiger- og Staaltraadfabrikk'', founded by his father-in-law Hans Schikkelstad in 1832. It was located along the river Hunnselva in Vardal. Upon the takeover, Ole Mustad changed the name of the company to ''O. Mustad''. He gradually expanded from wire and nail production to running a foundry and a sawmill. In 1874 his son Hans Mustad became co-owner, and the company name was changed to O. Mustad & Søn. The nail production was moved to Kristiania in 1876; instead the factory at Vardal started specializing in fish hook production.

Peter Andreas Munch (15 December 1810 – 25 May 1863), usually known as P. A. Munch, was a Norwegian historian, known for his work on the medieval history of Norway. Munch's scholarship included Norwegian archaeology, geography, ethnography, linguistics, and jurisprudence. He was also noted for his Norse legendary saga translations. Peder Sather
Peder Sather (September 25, 1810 – December 28, 1886) was a Norwegian-born American banker who is best known for his legacy to the University of California, Berkeley. His widow, Jane K. Sather, donated money in his memory for two of the school's most famous landmarks. Sather Gate and Sather Tower, which is more commonly known as ''The Campanile'', are both California Historical Landmarks which are registered National Register of Historic Places.
