Gabriel Lund
Gabriel Lund (4 October 1773 – 3 November 1832) was a Norwegian merchant and representative at the Norwegian Constituent Assembly. Biography Gabriel Jochumsen Lund was born in Farsund in Vest-Agder, Norway. He graduated with a degree in theology in 1795 but did not join the ministry. He was engaged in trade in Farsund with his father, merchant, trader and shipowner Jochum Brinch Lund (1743-1807) He subsequently took over the trading house and ran it until 1830. Later he served as postmaster in Trondheim. He represented Vest-Agder, Lister amt at the Norwegian Constituent Assembly in 1814. He was a member of the Finance Committee and supported the independence party (''Selvstendighetspartiet''). He was a member of the Parliament of Norway from 1827 to 1830 representing Lister and Mandals amt (now Vest-Agder). is the largest Norwegian biographical encyclopedia. The first edition (NBL1) was issued between 1921 and 1983, including 19 volumes and 5,100 articles. It was published by Aschehoug with economic support from the state. bought the rights to NBL1 from Aschehoug in 1995, and after a pre-project in 1996–97 the work for a new edition began in 1998. The project had economic support from the Fritt Ord Foundation and the Ministry of Culture, and the second edition (NBL2) was launched in the years 1999–2005, including 10 volumes and around 5,700 articles. Jakob Klukstad
Jakob Bersveinson Klukstad (1705–1773) was a Norwegian wood carver and painter. Klukstad had great significance for future wood carvers in the Gudbrand Valley. Biography Klukstad was born in Lom, Norway, Lom. He spent most of his career on the Klukstad farm in Lesja. In 1734 he married Anne Knutsdatter (1704-1766) from Lom. Beginning in 1746 they are recorded as taking communion at the church in Lesja, where they continued for years afterwards. In 1747 Klukstad was recorded as holding a cotter's farm that was attached to the larger farm of Nordistugu Klukstad in Lesja. He was buried at Lesja Church, where a memorial stone recognizing his work was placed at his grave in 2000. Klukstad was a self-taught artist who developed his own unique style. His main artistic contribution came at churches in the Gudbrand Valley, where he received several major commissions. Johan Ernst Gunnerus
Johan Ernst Gunnerus (26 February 1718 – 25 September 1773) was a Norway, Norwegian bishop and botanist. Gunnerus was born at Oslo, Christiania. He was bishop of the Diocese of Nidaros from 1758 until his death and also a professor of theology at the University of Copenhagen. Biography Gunnerus was born and raised in Oslo, Christiania in Norway. He enrolled at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark in 1737, but had to postpone his studies for three years because of poverty. He studied in Copenhagen from 1740, at Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg, Halle in Germany from 1742, and at Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena, Jena from 1744, where he received his Magister degree in 1745 and in 1753 was admitted to the Faculty of Philosophy. At Jena he published extensively, notably a work on natural and international law in eight volumes. In 1754 he was recalled to Denmark and appointed Professor and Rector at Herlufsholm. Johan Peter Strömberg
Johan Peter Strömberg (19 August 1773 – 20 September 1834) was a Swedish stage actor, dancer and theatre director. He was the founder of the first public theatre and acting school in Oslo, Norway. Biography Johan Peter Strömberg was born in Stockholm to tobacco manufacturer Anders Olofsson Strömberg and Ulrica Sophia Bourchell. In 1797, he married the Swedish dancer Maria Christina Sophia Ehrnström (1776–1853). Stage career Johan Peter Strömberg made his debut in the travelling theater company of E. M. Wederborg at Nyköping in 1793. He toured Sweden as a member of several travelling theatre companies, such as the ones of Carl Seuerling, Johan Peter Lewenhagen, A. O. Hofflund and Johan Anton Lindqvist. In 1798-99 he attempted to start a permanent theater in Uddevalla, and in 1800, he made another attempt to start a permanent theater in Nyköping, but was forced to close in 1802.
