Christian VI (30 November 1699 – 6 August 1746) was King of Denmark and Norway from 1730 to 1746. The eldest surviving son of Frederick IV and Louise of Mecklenburg-Güstrow, he is considered one of Denmark-Norway's more anonymous kings, but he was a skilled politician, best known for his authoritarian regime. He was the first king of the Oldenburg dynasty to refrain from entering in any war. During his reign both compulsory confirmation (1736) and a public, nationwide school system (1739) were introduced. His chosen motto was "''Deo et populo''" (for God and the people). Early years Christian was born on 30 November 1699 at Copenhagen Castle as the second but eldest surviving son of King Frederick IV of Denmark by his first consort, Louise of Mecklenburg-Güstrow. Kongsberg Church
Kongsberg Church ( no, Kongsberg kirke, nn, Kongsberg kyrkje) is a building and congregation of the Church of Norway located at Kongsberg in Viken (county), Viken Counties of Norway, county, Norway. Kongsberg Church, a large baroque church, was designed by Joachim Andreas Stukenbrock and the construction period lasted from 1740 in Norway, 1740 to 1761 in Norway, 1761. It has a simple exterior with a richly decorated rococo interior. Kongsberg Church was constructed of brick and designed with a cruciform floor plan. The design of the church was inspired by Garrison Church, Copenhagen, Garnisons Church in Copenhagen. Virtually all fixtures in the church are of wood, but pillars and surfaces have been marbled. The whole church has a cool blue color as a result. On either side of the altar and pulpit are the pillars that bear the organ gallery above. Barthold Nicolai Landsberg
Barthold Nicolai von Landsberg (c. 166818 February 1740) was a Dano-Norwegian military officer. He was born in Holstein. He was commander of the Fredriksten Fortress from 1717, during the Great Northern War, and was responsible for defending the fortress against attacks from Charles XII in 1718. Charles XII was killed during the siege of the fortress, and this effectively ended the Swedish campaign in Norway. Landsberg was assigned the rank of Lieutenant General in 1739. He died in Fredrikstad in 1740. A memorial of Landsberg was raised at the Fredriksten Fortress, and a square in Halden Halden (), between 1665 and 1928 known as Fredrikshald, is both a town and a municipality in Viken county, Norway.
