Sir Robert Deane, 5th Baronet
Sir Robert Deane, 5th Baronet PC (Ire) (c. 1707 – 7 February 1770) was an Irish barrister-at-law and politician. He was the third son of Sir Matthew Deane, 3rd Baronet and his wife Jane Sharpe, only daughter of Reverend William Sharpe. In 1751, he succeeded his older brother Matthew as baronet. He was invested to the Privy Council of Ireland in 1768 and represented Tallow in the Irish House of Commons from 1757 to 1768. The following year, he stood for Carysfort, a seat he held until his death in 1770. On 24 August 1738, he married Charleton Tilson, second daughter of Thomas Tilson. They had six daughters and four sons. The Church of Ireland ( ga, Eaglais na hÉireann, ; sco, label= Ulster-Scots, Kirk o Airlann, ) is a Christian church in Ireland and an autonomous province of the Anglican Communion. It is organised on an all-Ireland basis and is the second largest Christian church on the island after the Roman Catholic Church. Like other Anglican churches, it has retained elements of pre-Reformation practice, notably its episcopal polity, while rejecting the primacy of the Pope. In theological and liturgical matters, it incorporates many principles of the Reformation, particularly those of the English Reformation, but self-identifies as being both Reformed and Catholic, in that it sees itself as the inheritor of a continuous tradition going back to the founding of Christianity in Ireland. Philip Skelton
Philip Skelton (1707–1787) was an Irish Protestant clergyman and writer. Life The son of Richard Skelton, a farmer, gunsmith tanner, he was born at Derriaghy, County Antrim, in February 1707. His mother, Arabella Cathcart, was daughter of a farmer, and the tenancy, under Lord Conway, of the farm at Derriaghy was her marriage portion. Philip, who had five brothers and four sisters, was sent in 1717 to a Latin school at Lisburn. His father died before he was eleven, and it was only by severe economy that his mother could educate her ten children. In June 1724 he entered Trinity College Dublin, as a sizar with Patrick Delany as his tutor, and in 1726 was elected a Scholar. He graduated B.A. in July 1728, and, after teaching in the endowed school of Dundalk, was nominated curate to Samuel Madden of Drummilly, County Fermanagh, and ordained deacon by John Stearne, bishop of Clogher, in 1729. Matthew Dubourg
Matthew Dubourg (1703 – 3 July 1767) was an English violinist, conductor, and composer who spent most of his life in Ireland. Among other achievements, Dubourg led the orchestra at the premiere of Georg Friedrich Handel's great oratorio Messiah (Handel), ''Messiah''. Biography Dubourg was born in London, the illegitimate son of a court dancing master, his mother's identity is unknown. In 1712, at age 9, he performed a Corelli sonata standing on a stool at the home of Thomas Britton. At age 11, in 1714, he furthered his studies under the celebrated Italian violinist, composer and music theorist Francesco Geminiani. He performed a sonata at the Queen's Theatre in March 1714, a benefit concert in May at Hickford's Room, as well as many other performances during the London season.Ford, A. Arabella Denny
Lady Arabella Fitzmaurice Denny (1707–1792) was an Irish philanthropist, and founder of the Magdalen Asylum for Protestant Girls in Leeson Street, Dublin in 1765. Early life and family Arabella Fitzmaurice was born in County Kerry, the second daughter of Thomas FitzMaurice, 1st Earl of Kerry, and Anne Petty (daughter of Sir William Petty). As a teenager, she ran a basic medical dispensary for the tenants on her father's estate. She married Colonel Arthur Denny, M.P. for Kerry, on 26 August 1727. Lady Arabella was widowed at the age of thirty-five. A nephew of Arabella Denny was William Petty, 2nd Earl of Shelburne, who became Prime Minister of Great Britain. Lady Arabella lived at Peafield Cliff House (now Lios an Uisce/Lisnaskea House), in Blackrock, County Dublin where John Wesley, who founded and led the Methodist Church, visited her in 1783. James Cuffe (died 1762)
James Cuffe (1707 – 20 March 1762), of Elmhall and Ballinrobe, was an Irish landowner in County Mayo. He was the son of Gerald Cuffe, who built Elmhall and his wife Dorothy Wynne, and grandson of Sir James Cuffe (died 1678), James Cuffe, who was granted the lands of Ballinrobe in 1667. On 30 April 1731 he married Elizabeth, daughter of Sir Arthur Gore, 2nd Baronet and Elizabeth Annesley; they were the parents of James Cuffe, 1st Baron Tyrawley and six other children. In 1742 Cuffe succeeded his father-in-law as Member of Parliament for County Mayo (Parliament of Ireland constituency), County Mayo in the Irish House of Commons, sitting until 1760.
