The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television's 16th Gemini Awards were held on October 29, 2001, to honour achievements in Canadian television. The awards show, which was hosted by Mike Bullard, took place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and was broadcast on CBC Television. Metro Toronto Convention Centre
Metro Toronto Convention Centre (originally and still colloquially Metro Convention Centre, and sometimes MTCC), is a convention complex located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada along Front Street (Toronto), Front Street West in the former Railway Lands in downtown Toronto. The property is today owned by Oxford Properties. The centre is operated by the Metropolitan Toronto Convention Centre Corporation, an independent agency of the Government of Ontario. Steve Blackman (writer)
Steve Blackman is a Canadian television writer, and executive producer. He is the showrunner of ''The Umbrella Academy (TV series), The Umbrella Academy'', a Netflix series based on the comic series by Gerard Way. In 2016, Blackman won a Writers Guild of America Award for the second season of Fargo (TV series), ''Fargo'' along with his fellow writers. In 2017, he was nominated for an Emmy award, Emmy for his work on ''Fargo'' along with other producers. Early life and education Blackman grew up in Edmonton, Canada. As a law student at the University of Alberta in 1996, he founded ''Law Show,'' an annual stage production written and performed by law students. Wayne Grigsby (born 1947) is a Canadian screenwriter and producer, mainly for television. Career Grigsby, who comes from Calgary, Alberta, started primarily in arts and entertainment journalism. His goal had always been to write fiction. He had a script produced by Brian McKenna and Bernie Zukerman, which led to his becoming a screenwriter. Salter Street Films was a Canadian television and film production company based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. History The company was founded by brothers Paul and Michael Donovan in 1983.
