Christian V
Christian V (15 April 1646 25 August 1699) was king of Denmark and Norway from 1670 until his death in 1699. Well-regarded by the common people, he was the first king anointed at Frederiksborg Castle chapel as absolute monarch since the decree that institutionalized the supremacy of the king in Denmark-Norway. Christian fortified the absolutist system against the aristocracy by accelerating his father's practice of allowing both Holstein nobles and Danish and Norwegian commoners into state service. As king, he wanted to show his power as absolute monarch through architecture, and dreamed of a Danish Versailles. He was the first to use the 1671 Throne Chair of Denmark, partly made for this purpose. His motto was: ''Pietate et Justitia'' (With piety and justice). Austre Moland Church ( no, Austre Moland kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Arendal Municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the Brekka, along the lake Molandsvann. It is one of the churches for the Moland parish which is part of the Arendal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, wooden church was built in a cruciform design in 1673 using plans drawn up by the architect Ole Ormsen. The church seats about 496 people. The church was called ''Østre Moland kirke'' until 1919 when it was renamed ''Austre Moland kirke'' after some Norwegian spelling reforms. Leinstrand Church ( no, Leinstrand kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Trondheim municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the Leinstrand area in the city of Trondheim. It is one of the churches for the ''Byneset og Leinstrand'' parish which is part of the Heimdal og Byåsen prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The red, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1673 by the architect Ole Jonsen Hindrum. The church seats about 200 people. Gjertrud Schnackenberg (; born August 27, 1953, in Tacoma, Washington) is an American poet. Life Schnackenberg graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1975. She lectured at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Washington University, and was Writer-in-Residence at Smith College and visiting fellow at St. Catherine's College, Oxford, in 1997. ''The Throne of Labdacus'', one of Schnackenberg's six books of poetry, focuses on the myth of Oedipus and the stories of ancient Greece. In ''A Gilded Lapse of Time'' she devotes a section to the life, poetry, and death of Dante.
