Frederick III Of Denmark
Frederick III ( da, Frederik; 18 March 1609 – 9 February 1670) was King of Denmark and Norway from 1648 until his death in 1670. He also governed under the name Frederick II as diocesan administrator (colloquially referred to as prince-bishop) of the Prince-Bishopric of Verden (1623–29 and again 1634–44), and the Prince-Archbishopric of Bremen (1635–45). The second-eldest son of Christian IV and Anne Catherine of Brandenburg, Frederick was only considered an heir to the throne after the death of his older brother Prince Christian in 1647. He instituted absolute monarchy in Denmark-Norway in 1660, confirmed by law in 1665 as the first in Western historiography. He also ordered the creation of the Throne Chair of Denmark. Hassel Iron Works
Hassel Iron Works ( no, Hassel Jernværk) was a former mining and iron works company located near the village of Skotselv in Øvre Eiker, Buskerud, Norway. Hassel Iron Works was established in the 17th century and received a royal privilege from King Frederick III of Denmark and Norway in 1649. The mines was in production until 1854, with some operations continuing until the 1870s. Its most important mines were located at Hassel in Modum and Barbu near Arendal. The operation included a smelter with a large blast furnace. A large water wheel was used to drive the blower in the blast furnace. Hassel Iron Works also received ore from neighboring mines at Sveaas and Skredsvik in Modum, at Holtefjell, Dramdal and Såsen in Øvre Eiker and from Solberg and Åserud in Nedre Eiker Nedre Eiker was a municipality in Buskerud county, Norway. Jonas Danilssønn Ramus
Jonas Danilssønn Ramus (27 September 1649 - 16 May 1718) was a Norwegian priest, author and historian. He is principally known as an author of religious and historical writings. Background Ramus was born at Aukra in Møre og Romsdal, Norway. His parents were parish priest Danil Johnsen Ramus (d. 1654) and Anna Christensdatter Bernhoft (1624–1705). Ramus belonged a family of clerics, with the father, grandfather, stepfather and two brothers, clerics and scholars in various positions. He lost his father early, but her stepfather, Hans Olsen Brejer, took responsibility for his basic education. After studies at the Trondheim Cathedral School, in 1665 he was discharged to the University of Copenhagen with two of his brothers. For the next 15 years, he is believed to have continued studying in Copenhagen.
