12th Daytime Emmy Awards
The 12th Daytime Emmy Awards were held on Thursday, August 1, 1985, on CBS to commemorate excellence in daytime programming from March 6, 1984 to March 5, 1985. Two new categories were added: Outstanding Young Man in a Daytime Drama Series and Outstanding Ingenue in a Daytime Drama Series. Of the 13 categories (including Lifetime Achievement) available that year, the broadcast showed the presentation of awards in seven categories. Broadcast from 3-4:30 p.m., it preempted '' Guiding Light'' and ''Body Language''. The telecast marked the last time the Daytime Emmys would preempt any network programming airing at 4 p.m. EST. National Academy Of Television Arts And Sciences
The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) is an American professional service organization founded in 1955 for "the advancement of the arts and sciences of television and the promotion of creative leadership for artistic, educational and technical achievements within the television industry". Headquartered in New York City, NATAS membership is national and the organization has local chapters around the country. It was also known as the National Television Academy until 2007. NATAS distributes several groups of Emmy Awards, including those for daytime, sports, and news and documentary programming. Gillian Spencer (born December 18, 1939) is an American soap opera actress and writer. John Dixon M.D. is a fictional character on the American TV soap opera, ''As the World Turns''. He was portrayed by Larry Bryggman from July 18, 1969 until December 14, 2004.
