1294 Antwerpia ( ''prov. designation'': ) is a dark background asteroid from the central regions of the asteroid belt. It was discovered on 24 October 1933, by astronomer Eugène Delporte at the Royal Observatory of Belgium in Uccle. The carbonaceous C-type asteroid has a rotation period of 6.6 hours and measures approximately in diameter. It was named for the Belgian city of Antwerp. Orbit and classification ''Antwerpia'' is a non- family asteroid of the main belt's background population when applying the hierarchical clustering method to its proper orbital elements. It orbits the Sun in the central main belt at a distance of 2.1–3.3  AU once every 4 years and 5 months (1,608 days). Career Herget taught astronomy at the University of Cincinnati.
