11th Corps (People's Republic Of China)
The 11th Corps (later the 11th Army Corps) () was a military formation of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. It was active from 1949 to 1952, with a six month break; and from 1969 to the end of 1985. It is currently inactive. In 1979 the corps took part in the Sino-Vietnamese War. In 1984 it again fought in Vietnam. It was stationed in the Kunming Military Region. First Formation The 11th Corps was activated on March 1, 1949, from the 3rd Column, Zhongyuan Field Army. In March–December 1949 it was part of Ch'en Tsi-Lien's 3rd Army of the Second Field Army. The Corps was composed of the 31st Division, 32nd Division and 33rd Division.Witson, 1972, 187 During the Chinese Civil War its commander was Chen Jiagui, and its political commissar was Zhang Qi. Kunming Military Region
The Kunming Military Region was a military region of the People's Liberation Army, established in December 1954 or 1955 and disestablished during the 1980s. It was incorporated within the Chengdu Military Region. In the 1954 reorganization that established 13 Military Regions, Xie Fuzhi was given command of the Kunming MR and Qin Jiwei was made deputy commander. Later Qin became commander of the region (1960–67). In March 1967, the Central Intelligence Agency identified some 35 field corps, of which two, the 13th and 14th, were within the Kunming MR. In late December 1978 or early January 1979, ahead of the 1979 Sino-Vietnamese border war, the PLA established the Southern Front to direct the Kunming and Guangzhou Military Regions. Yang Dezhi moved from command of the Wuhan Military Region to become deputy commander of the Southern Front and commander of the Kunming Military Region. North Sea Fleet
The Northern Theater Command Navy (), or the North Sea Fleet (NSF; ) is one of the three fleets of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy, under the Northern Theater Command. In September 1950 the Qingdao Army Base was redesignated as a naval base. Following the departure of the Soviet Navy from Lüshunkou (Port Arthur), the North Sea Fleet was established in 1960 with naval bases in Qingdao and Lüshunkou. It includes the Aircraft carrier Liaoning, as well as nuclear-powered attack and missile submarines based at Qingdao bastion. The North Sea Fleet was historically the most capable of the Navy's three fleets, being the first in China to operate destroyers, shore-based missiles and nuclear submarines. The 78th Group Army (), is a military formation of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Ground Forces (PLAGF). The 78th Group Army is one of twelve total group armies of the PLAGF, the largest echelon of ground forces in the People's Republic of China, and one of three assigned to the nation's Northern Theater Command. People's Liberation Army Air Force
The People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF; ), also known as the Chinese Air Force (中国空军) or the People's Air Force (人民空军), is an aerial service branch of the People's Liberation Army, the regular armed forces of the People's Republic of China. The PLAAF was officially established on 11 November 1949 and it is composed of 5 branches which are aviation, anti-aircraft artillery, surface-to-air missiles (SAM), radar, and Airborne Corps. The PLAAF first faced combat in the Korean War against the United States using primarily the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15 fighter aircraft, aircraft provided by the Soviet Union, which also assisted with the expansion of the Chinese aerospace industry. 182nd Division (People's Republic Of China)
The 182nd Division () was created in February 1949 under ''the Regulation of the Redesignations of All Organizations and Units of the Army'', issued by Central Military Commission on November 1, 1948,. basing on the 38th Brigade, 13th Column of Huabei Military Region. Its history could be traced to the 1st Independent Brigade of Taihang Military District formed in October 1947. The division was composed of 544th, 545th, and 546th Infantry Regiments. As a part of 61st Corps the division took part in the Chinese Civil War, including the Linfen Campaign, Taiyuan Campaign, Fumei Campaign and Chengdu Campaign. In March 1951, the division was transferred to 11th Corps following 61th Corps' disbandment. Hebei
Hebei or , (; alternately Hopeh) is a northern province of China. Hebei is China's sixth most populous province, with over 75 million people. Shijiazhuang is the capital city. Langfang () is a prefecture-level city of Hebei Province, which was known as Tianjin Prefecture until 1973.
