10th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards
The ''10th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards'' is the 10th edition of the Interactive Achievement Awards, an annual awards event that honors the best games in the video game industry. The awards are arranged by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS), and were held at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on . It was also held as part of the Academy's 2007 D.I.C.E. Summit, and was hosted by Jay Mohr. The original nomination package lists "Cellphone Game of the Year", but the finalists were listed for " Mobile Game of the Year". The nomination package also features a genre category of "Casual Game of the Year", but there were not any finalists named for this category. ''Gears of War'' received the most nominations and won the most awards, including " Overall Game of the Year". Hard Rock Hotel And Casino (Las Vegas)
The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino was a resort located near the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. It now operates as Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. The resort is located on on the corner of Harmon Avenue and Paradise Road, about a mile east of the Las Vegas Strip. At the time of its closure, the Hard Rock included 1,506 rooms across several hotel towers, a casino, and a music venue known as The Joint. It had also hosted a weekly pool party event known as Rehab. Plans for a Hard Rock hotel were announced in 1991, and the resort opened on March 10, 1995, as the world's first rock and roll-themed hotel. The Hard Rock Hotel began as a joint venture between Hard Rock Cafe founder Peter Morton and Harveys. Following disagreements, Morton bought out Harveys' share of the resort in 1997. RedOctane, Inc. was an American electronic entertainment company best known for producing the ''Guitar Hero'' series, beginning in November 2005. RedOctane became a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision in 2006. In February 2010, Activision closed the RedOctane division. ''Prey'' is a first-person shooter video game developed by Human Head Studios, under contract for 3D Realms, and published by 2K Games, while the Xbox 360 version was Porting, ported by Venom Games. The game was initially released in North America and Europe on July 11, 2006. ''Prey'' uses a heavily modified version of id Tech 4 to use portals and variable gravity to create the environments the player explores. The game's story is focused on Cherokee Domasi "Tommy" Tawodi as he, his girlfriend, and grandfather are abducted aboard an alien spaceship known as The Sphere as it consumes material, both inanimate and living, from Earth in order to sustain itself. Tommy's Cherokee heritage allows him to let his spirit roam freely at times and resurrection, come back to life after dying, which gives Tommy an edge in his battle against the Sphere.
