The band consists of Ross Millard (vocals and guitar), David "Jaff" Craig (vocals and bass guitar) and brothers Barry Hyde (vocals and guitar) and Dave Hyde (drums). ..., released in 2003. The album was released on Fantastic Plastic Records, before the band signed to a major label. Due to the band having gained an amount of mainstream popularity and the EP's 'limited edition' status (only 1000 copies were made) the release is now very popular among record collectors and can fetch high prices. Fantastic Plastic Records is an independent record label based in London and Brighton. Fantastic Plastic was formed by lifelong music fan Darrin Robson in a Co. Down attic. Originally specialising in mail-order only rare and collectible records, it soon grew into the opening of two independent local record shops before making the move to release the label's debut vinyl EP by Cork (city), Cork's finest The Sultans Of Ping FC in 1991. Further releases soon followed by bands such as Television Personalities (band), Television Personalities, The Blue Aeroplanes and Ash (band), Ash before the label relocated to London going on to work with bands such as Ikara Colt, Guillemots (band), Guillemots and The Futureheads. ''Nul Book Standard'' is an EP by British band The Futureheads. Their first official release, the EP came out in 2002 on the Project Cosmonaut label. Tracks A2 and B2 are different recordings to those found on their debut album. Background As the Futureheads were sending demo discs to record labels, Matt Wilkinson - who was working for Rough Trade Records at the time, and looking to set up a label of his own - got ahold of one of them. Wilkinson felt potential in the Sunderland quartet, even "started shaking it was that good" listening to the tape. He said about the band's music: Wilkinson created the Project Cosmonaut label with his friend Nick Ellson, and contacted guitarist and vocalist Ross Millard to sign them. ''The Futureheads'' is the debut studio album by British indie rock band The Futureheads. It was released on 12 July 2004 and spawned the singles "First Day", "Decent Days and Nights", "Meantime", and "Hounds of Love" (a Kate Bush cover). The album received critical praise and was re-released as a special edition in 2005 featuring a DVD and coming with a slightly re-designed cover in pink rather than the standard LP's grey. "Decent Days and Nights" and "Hounds of Love" were made available for the '' Rock Band'' platform on 9 March 2010. "Decent Days and Nights" also appeared on the ''Burnout 3'' soundtrack. "Meantime" was used in a second season episode of the hit TV series ''The O.C.'', and the film, '' Grandma's Boy''. The album was named the 33rd best record of 2004 by ''Pitchfork''. The Futureheads
The Futureheads are an English post-punk band from Sunderland, formed in 2000. The band consists of Ross Millard (vocals and guitar), David "Jaff" Craig (vocals and bass guitar) and brothers Barry Hyde (vocals and guitar) and Dave Hyde (drums). Their name comes from the title of The Flaming Lips album ''Hit to Death in the Future Head''. The band's influences include new wave and post-punk bands such as Gang of Four, Devo, XTC, Wire and Fugazi. Career Early days The band met at City of Sunderland College as a quartet consisting of Barry Hyde (vocals and guitar), David "Jaff" Craig (vocals and bass guitar), Peter Brewis (drums), and Ross Millard (vocals and guitar). Millard and Craig had been in another local band together previously. They used the Sunderland City Detached Youth Project building (where Brewis and Hyde worked) as a free practice space, fitting since the project was intended to get young people off the streets by using music. The fantastic (french: le fantastique) is a subgenre of literary works characterized by the ambiguous presentation of seemingly supernatural forces.
