Ōmishima Island, Ehime
is the largest island in the Geiyo Islands chain, and the westernmost which accommodates the Nishiseto Expressway between Honshu and Shikoku. It is located in the Seto Inland Sea. The island's highest peak is at an altitude of . Geography Ōmishima is kidney-shaped and together with Ōsakikamijima on the west encloses the calm bay of Utena, where primary seaport of is located. The island's reservoir is the primary freshwater source for Ōmishima itself and nearby Hakata. Seto Inland Sea
The , sometimes shortened to the Inland Sea, is the body of water separating Honshū, Shikoku, and Kyūshū, three of the four main islands of Japan. Ōmishima, Ehime
was a town located in Ōmishima Island, Ochi District, Ehime Prefecture, Japan. As of 2003, the town had an estimated population of 4,006 and a density of 92.45 persons per km². The total area was 43.33 km². Toyo Ito Museum Of Architecture, Imabari
The is a museum of contemporary architecture and design located in Imabari, Ehime Prefecture. The two small museum buildings, named Steel Hut and Silver Hut, both designed by Pritzker Prize winning architect Toyo Ito, are located on a promontory on Ōmishima Island, Ehime, Ōmishima, a small island in the middle of the Seto Inland Sea. Ōyamazumi Shrine
is located on the island of Ōmishima in the Seto Inland Sea. The shrine is dedicated to the gods who protect sailors and soldiers. Because of this, many ''daimyō'' and other military leaders have made offerings at the shrine in hopes of military success, or in thanks for victory in battle. The offerings of swords, armor, and other military equipment are now housed in the largest museum of fighting equipment used during the age of the samurai in Japan. There are items housed in the shrine which belonged to Tsuruhime, Tomoe Gozen, Minamoto no Yoritomo, founder of the Kamakura Bakufu and first ''shōgun'', and to his younger brother, Minamoto no Yoshitsune. The shrine is in a grove of camphor trees, the oldest of which are between 2,600 and 3,000 years old. Ōkunoshima
is a small island in the Inland Sea of Japan. It is considered to be part of the city of Takehara, Hiroshima Prefecture. It is accessible by ferry from Tadanoumi and Ōmishima. There are campsites, walking trails and places of historical interest on the island. It is often called because of the numerous rabbits that roam the island. The rabbits are rather tame and will approach humans. Ōkunoshima played a key role during World War II as a poison gas factory for much of the chemical warfare that was carried out in China. History The island was a cultivated area until the Russo-Japanese War when ten forts were built to protect it. Three fishing families lived on the island. Okamura Island
is a small island in the Inland Sea of Japan. Administratively, it is part of the city of Imabari, Ehime Prefecture. The island is famous for mikan and butterflies.
