Đồng Đăng station ( vi, Ga Đồng Đăng) is a railway station in Vietnam. It serves the town of Đồng Đăng, in Lạng Sơn Province. It is the last station on the line before the Friendship Pass border crossing with Pingxiang, Guangxi in China. Pingxiang, Guangxi
Pingxiang () is a county-level city under the administration of the prefecture-level city of Chongzuo, in the southwest of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. Situation The city covers an area of . It is bordered in the north by Longzhou County and in the east by Ningming County, both in Chongzuo, and in the south and west by Vietnam's Lạng Sơn Province. National Route 322 comes through the city centre, as does the railway which continues on to Hanoi; a high-speed expressway, now also international, passes nearby. Zhennan Pass, site of the Battle of Bang Bo during the Sino-French War, is now named the "Friendship Pass" and is considered the gateway to Vietnam. Beijing–Nanning–Hanoi Through Train
The Beijing–Nanning–Hanoi through train (Chinese: 北京-南宁-河内国际列车) is an international railway service between Gia Lâm railway station (via Dong Dang railway station) in Vietnam and the Beijing West railway station in China, jointly operated by Nanning Railway Bureau of China's national rail service, with service provided by Nanning Passenger Service Department. The train runs to Beijing and Hanoi every three days. The train runs along the Jingguang railway, followed by the Hengyang–Liuzhou Intercity Railway, the Liuzhou–Nanning Intercity Railway, and the Xianggui railway. It crosses into Vietnam at Đồng Đăng and completes its journey on the dual gauge Hanoi–Đồng Đăng railway. The total journey time is approximately 36 hours, and the train uses 25T class train carriages. In railway engineering, "gauge" is the transverse distance between the inner surfaces of the heads of two rails, which for the vast majority of railway lines is the number of rails in place. However, it is sometimes necessary for track to carry railway vehicles with wheels matched to two different gauges. Such track is described as dual gauge – achieved either by addition of a third rail, if it will fit, or by two additional rails. Dual-gauge tracks are more expensive to configure with signals and sidings, and to maintain, than two separate single-gauge tracks. Friendship Pass
Friendship Pass (), also commonly known by its older name Ải Nam Quan (), is a pass near the China-Vietnam border, between China's Guangxi and Vietnam's Lạng Sơn Province. The pass itself lies just inside the Chinese side of the border. Vietnamese National Route 1 starts at the border near this pass, which lies less than 5 km north of the town of Đồng Đăng in Lạng Sơn Province, ending in Năm Căn in Cà Mau Province. China National Highway 322 runs from here to Guangxi Province and Hunan Province. This is one of the busiest border trading points of Vietnam.
