Đakovački Vezovi
''Đakovački vezovi'' (, English: ''Embroideries of Đakovo'') is the biggest traditional festival in Đakovo, Croatia. The festival of ''Đakovački vezovi'' was founded in 1967, on the occasion of the international year of tourism. It is considered one of the major cultural events of the whole of Slavonia, together with '' Brodsko kolo'' and ''Vinkovačke jeseni''. The festival lasts for 2 weeks and usually ends on the first weekend of July when the main event, the procession of the folklore groups from all parts of Croatia, takes place. These folklore groups present traditional folk costumes and perform traditional songs and dances, or even customs. There are also special parts of the program such as the horse and wedding wagon show, the races of pure-bred white Lipizzaner horses from the horse-breeding centre in Ivandvor, which has been breeding horses ever since 1506, the concerts in the Đakovo Cathedral and the tasting of delicacies and wines. Đakovo Cathedral
The Đakovo Cathedral or Cathedral basilica of St. Peter ( hr, Katedrala bazilika Svetog Petra) is the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Đakovo-Osijek in Đakovo, Croatia. Đakovo Cathedral is the biggest sacral newly built building of Croatian historicism. The St. Peter Cathedral in Đakovo is the town's most famous landmark and the most important sacral object. The cathedral was built 1866-1882 under Josip Juraj Strossmayer, who was the bishop of the Catholic diocese of Đakovo and Srijem. The architects of the cathedral are Carl Roesner and Friedrich von Schmidt from Vienna. Lipizzaner
The Lipizzan or Lipizzaner ( hr, Lipicanac, cz, Lipicán, hu, Lipicai, it, Lipizzano, sr, Lipicaner, sl, Lipicanec), is a European breed of riding horse developed in the Habsburg Empire in the sixteenth century. It is of Baroque type, and is powerful, slow to mature and long-lived; the coat is usually gray. The name of the breed derives from that of the village of Lipica ( it, Lipizza), now in Slovenia, one of the earliest stud farms established, then part of Austria-Hungary; the stud farm there is still active.
