Østerøya
Østerøya (East Island) is one of two peninsulas outside Sandefjord, Norway. It borders in west to the Mefjord and east to the Tønsbergfjord. Tønsberg Barrel is located on the southern end of the peninsula. Tønsberg Barrel is an old beacon mentioned in ''Sverris saga''. It has been described as one of the most beautiful sites in Sandefjord. East Island lies between the Tønsbergfjord and Mefjord. It has a large number of beaches, campgrounds, recreational areas, and vacation homes. The peninsula has a length of 10 km, and is between 1 and 2 km in width. It was previously known as Yxnøy, a name which now is used for East Island’s southernmost point. Sandefjord
Sandefjord () is a city and the most populous municipality in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway. The municipality of Sandefjord was established on 1 January 1838. The municipality of Sandar was merged into Sandefjord on 1 January 1969. On 1 January 2017, rural municipalities of Andebu and Stokke were merged into Sandefjord as part of a nationwide municipal reform. This merger was the first one to take place during the reform. Vestfold
Vestfold is a traditional region, a former county and a current electoral district in Eastern Norway. In 2020 the county became part of the much larger county of Vestfold og Telemark. Located on the western shore of the Oslofjord, it bordered the previous Buskerud and Telemark counties. The county administration was located in Tønsberg, Norway's oldest city, and the largest city is Sandefjord. With the exception of the city-county of Oslo, Vestfold was the smallest county in Norway by area. Vesterøya
Vesterøya (West Island) is one of two peninsulas outside Sandefjord, Norway. Yxnøy
Yxnøy (also spelled Yxney, formerly: Yxnøyn) is the southernmost part of Østerøya (East Island) in Sandefjord, Norway. It stretches from Nordre Truber to Ertsvika. It is one of the largest undeveloped areas found along the Vestfold coast. It is a recreational area home to several beaches, steep cliffs, forests, sloping rocks, glacial potholes, hiking trails, and Tønsberg Barrel. The main trailhead is located at Tallakshavn, which has been named one of the most scenic beaches in the Tønsberg Fjord. There are marked hiking trails from the parking lot to Tønsberg Barrel and various beaches such as Strandvika and Ertsvika. Ertsvika is a sandy beach in the southern part of Yxnøy. Mefjord
The Mefjord (''Mefjorden'') is a small fjord in the municipality of Sandefjord in Vestfold, Norway. It is a 9 km long fjord which lies in-between Vesterøya (West Island) and Østerøya (East Island). It is a narrow fjord with many minor islands and islets. There are many vacation homes on both sides of the fjord and a large campground, Strand Leirsted, is located on its east side. A vast number of vacation homes can be found along the Mefjord. Several islands in the fjord are also home to vacation homes, including Grindholmen-, Storholmen- and Brattholmen Islands. It was previously known as Midtfjorden. During the Viking Age, a royal lodge (kongsseter) was located at Geirstad (Gjekstad) in the innermost part of the fjord.
