	Österåker Golf Club Österåker Golf Club (Österåkers Golfklubb) is a golf club situated in Åkersberga 20 km northeast of Stockholm, Sweden. It has hosted the Compaq Open on the Ladies European Tour. History Opened in 1988 and co-designed by Sven Tumba and Jan Sederholm, the club was one of few in Sweden ambitious enough to build 36 holes at the outset. It hosted national and international tournaments throughout the 1990s. By 2015 the club worried it could not keep pace with the new championship courses built in the Stockholm metropolitan area. In 2016 it sold a parcel of land to real estate developers, which enabled it to invest $25 million in a major revamp of the facilities. Henrik Stenson Golf Design was commissioned to create one of the finest golfing facilities in Scandinavia, drawing on inspiration from Le Nationale and TPC Sawgrass. 	Åkersberga Åkersberga is a locality and the seat of Österåker Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden with 28,033 inhabitants in 2010. History In 1901 a railway station named ''Berga'' was opened on this rural spot some 30 km from Stockholm. Some shops and a post office followed. The name Berga was changed to ''Åkers Berga'' to avoid confusion with other places in Sweden named Berga, and the present name evolved from this. After World War II the village grew and blocks of flats were built. Åkersberga gradually evolved into a suburb with many of its inhabitants commuting to work-places in Stockholm, and has become more urban in character. Between 1974 and 1982 Åkersberga was the seat of Vaxholm Municipality. When the municipality was split in 1983, Åkersberga became the seat of the reinstituted Österåker Municipality. 	David Lingmerth David Lingmerth (born 22 July 1987) is a Swedish professional golfer who plays on the Korn Ferry Tour. Early life Lingmerth was born and grew up in Tranås in the province of Småland, Sweden, and is son of Thomas and Birgitta Lingmerth. He began playing golf at the local club, Tranås Golf Club, which he has represented through his career. Lingmerth won his age level category (15) at the unofficial Swedish Youth Championship, Bankboken Cup, at Falun-Borlänge Golf Club, one stroke ahead of Henrik Norlander, who also came to be a PGA Tour player. 	Dormy Open The Dormy Open was a golf tournament on the Challenge Tour. It was first played in 2021 on the Öster by Stenson course at Österåker Golf Club in Åkersberga, Sweden, 20 km north-east of Stockholm. 	2021 Challenge Tour The 2021 Challenge Tour was a series of professional golf tournaments collectively known as the Challenge Tour. The Challenge Tour is Europe's official developmental tour and is organised by the PGA European Tour. It was introduced in 1986 and was originally called the Satellite Tour, before being renamed with its present title in 1990. Similarly to 2020, the season was to begin in February with three tournaments in South Africa co-sanctioned with the Sunshine Tour, but in mid-January the South African swing was postponed to April–May over COVID-19 pandemic concerns. The official schedule announcement was made on 27 January 2021. In April two back-to-back events in Sweden in May were added. In August, it was announced that the Hainan Open and the Foshan Open; both played in China, were cancelled. 	Dennis Edlund Dennis Edlund (born 24 September 1965) is a Swedish professional golfer. Edlund was born in Strängnäs and turned professional in 1988. He played on the European Tour and its official development tour, the Challenge Tour, between 1990 and 2003. He won five times on the Challenge Tour, including twice in 1996, when he won the English Challenge Tour Championship and Rolex Trophy Pro-Am on his way to second place on the tour's end of season rankings. The tour started as the Satellite Tour with its first Order of Merit rankings in 1989 and was officially renamed as the Challenge Tour at the start of the 1990 season. 	Adam Mednick Adam Mednick (born 9 September 1966) is a Swedish professional golfer. Early life Mednick was born in Bethesda, Maryland in the United States to an American father and a Swedish mother, and moved to Sweden when he was eight years old. His great-grandparents emigrated from Kiev in the Ukraine, and the authorities in the United States changed their family name from Mednikov to Mednick. Amateur career Mednick had a successful amateur career, representing Gävle Golf Club, situated 180 kilometres north of Stockholm, Sweden, in the same player generation as club mates, European Tour winner to be, Peter Hedblom and 1988 Amateur Championship winner Cristian Härdin. 	Swedish PGA Championship The Swedish PGA Championship for men is a golf tournament played annually in Sweden since 1970. It has been an event on the Swedish Golf Tour schedule since 1984 and the Nordic Golf League since 1999. History From its beginning in 1970, it was a championship for members of the PGA of Sweden. Since 1986, the tournament has been open to foreign players. The tournament was part of the Challenge Tour from 1990 to 1996 and from 2001 to 2005.
