Ólafur Ingi Skúlason
Ólafur Ingi Skúlason (born 1 April 1983) is an Icelandic former professional association football, footballer who played as a midfielder. He is the manager of Iceland national under-19 football team and the Iceland national under-15 women's team. Club career Ólafur was born in ReykjavÃk, Iceland, where he played for Fylkir. After the Icelandic season had come to a close, he was looking for new employment, and found it with Arsenal F.C., Arsenal on 1 July 2001. Ólafur was loaned back to Fylkir over a part of the 2003 season, and was voted the best young player in the Icelandic league 2003. His Arsenal debut came on 2 December 2003 in a 5–1 defeat of Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C., Wolverhampton Wanderers, replacing Justin Hoyte after 55 minutes of the match. Ólafur was released by Arsenal on 28 May 2005. He signed for Brentford on 22 June 2005. Laugardalsvöllur () is Iceland's national football stadium and the home venue for the Iceland national football team. It is in ReykjavÃk with a capacity of 9,800. History The idea of building a sport venue in Laugardalur, along with some other entertainment facilities, dates back to 1871. At that time, the population of ReykjavÃk, the capital of Iceland, was only about 2,000. Laugardalur was also nearly 3 km (1.9 mi) away from residential areas. Little came out of this proposal the next 60 years or so. In 1943, the town council set up the Laugardalsnefnd committee. Its task was to make proposals and ideas for the area. The committee then delivered the result later, which included building a new football stadium and a new swimming pool. Construction of the field started in 1949 and lasted until 1952. The 2018 FIFA World Cup was the 21st FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial world championship for men's national football teams organized by FIFA. It took place in Russia from 14 June to 15 July 2018, after the country was awarded the hosting rights in 2010. Veigar Páll Gunnarsson (born 21 March 1980) is a retired Icelandic football striker. His transfer in 2011 led to football clubs Stabæk and VÃ¥lerenga being nominated for fines of Norwegian kroner 500,000 and 350,000 respectively, by a committee (''pÃ¥talenemd'') of Football Association of Norway — and a police investigation that saw two persons arrested.
