ÍBV Women's Handball
The ÍBV women's handball team is the women's handball department of ÍBV-íþróttafélag (English: ÍBV sports club). As of the 2017-2018 season, they play in the Úrvalsdeild kvenna. History ÍBV won their first women's national championship in 2000 and followed up by winning it in 2003, 2004 and 2006. Úrvalsdeild Kvenna (handball)
Úrvalsdeild kvenna; English: Women's Premier League, also known as Olís deild kvenna for sponsorship reasons, is the highest women's handball competition among clubs in Iceland, where play determines the national champion. It is managed by the Icelandic Handball Association. Handball
Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it. The sport is usually played indoors, but outdoor variants exist in the forms of field handball, Czech handball (which were more common in the past) and beach handball. ''Morgunblaðið'' (, ''The Morning Paper'') is an Icelandic newspaper. ''Morgunblaðið''s website, mbl.is, is the most popular website in Iceland. History ''Morgunblaðið'' was founded by Vilhjálmur Finsen and Ólafur Björnsson, brother of Iceland's first president. The first issue, only eight pages long, was published on 2 November 1913. Sandra Erlingsdóttir (born 27 July 1998) is an Icelandic handball player and a member of the Icelandic national team. European Handball Federation
The European Handball Federation (EHF) is the umbrella organisation for European handball. Founded on 17 November 1991, it is made of 50 member federations and two associated federations (England and Scotland), and is headquartered in Vienna, Austria. History EHF was founded on 17 November 1991 in Berlin, Germany, although the first EHF Congress convened on 5 June 1992 and assigned EHF's headquarters to Vienna, Austria from 1 September that year. Hrafnhildur Hanna Þrastardóttir (born 14 May 1995) is an Icelandic handballer who plays for Icelandic top division side ÍBV and the Icelandic national team as a central back.
