École Nationale Supérieure Louis-Lumière
The École nationale supérieure Louis-Lumière (ENS Louis-Lumière) offers theoretical, practical as well as technical and artistic education and training for those wishing to go into the various branches of the audiovisual industry in France. Run under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education, it offers a state-funded course at postgraduate level leading to a nationally recognised diploma equivalent to a Master's degree. History The second film school in history, it was founded in 1926 as ''l'Ecole Technique de Cinématographie et de Photographie'' on the rue de Vaugirard, under the leadership of personalities such as Louis Lumière and Léon Gaumont. In 2012, the school moved to the Cité du Cinéma in Saint-Denis. An établissement public à caractère industriel et commercial (EPIC; ) is, in France, a category of public undertaking. It includes state-controlled entities of an industrial or commercial nature, including some research institutes and infrastructure operators. Some former French colonies, such as Algeria, Burkina Faso and Mauritania also use this term for such agencies. EPICs were first recognized as a specific form of public agencies by the Court of Arbitration's (French: ''Tribunal des conflits'') case law in 1921. In accordance with Article 34 of the French Constitution, they can only be created by a law. Not every company whose capital is held by the state or a state-owned entity is an EPIC. Parviz Kimiavi ( fa, پرويز کيمياوی; born 1939, in Tehran) is an Iranian (Persian) film director, screenwriter, editor and one of the most prominent figures of Persian cinema of the 20th century. Kimiavi studied photography and film at l'École Louis Lumière (Louis Lumiere School of Cinematography) and IDHEC. His works gained critical success and won several prizes in important international events such as Berlin and Cannes. Auguste And Louis Lumière
The Lumière brothers (, ; ), Auguste Marie Louis Nicolas Lumière (19 October 1862 – 10 April 1954) and Louis Jean Lumière (5 October 1864 – 6 June 1948), were French manufacturers of photography equipment, best known for their ''Cinématographe'' motion picture system and the short films they produced between 1895 and 1905, which places them among the earliest filmmakers. Their screening of a single film on 22 March 1895 for around 200 members of the "Society for the Development of the National Industry" in Paris was probably the first presentation of projected film. Sophie Delaporte, born in 1971, is a French visual artist, photographer and director who began her career in the early 2000s by publishing her first fashion series in the British press, and especially in iD Magazine. Benoît Delhomme (born 28 August 1961) is a French film cinematographer who has also worked in American and British films. He graduated from the École nationale supérieure Louis-Lumière in 1982. Trần Anh Hùng (born December 23, 1962) is a Vietnamese people, Vietnamese-born French film director and screenwriter. Early life Hùng was born in Mỹ Tho, South Vietnam. Following the fall of Saigon at the end of the Vietnam War in 1975, he immigrated to France at age 12. He majored in philosophy at a university in France. Jaco Van Dormael (born 9 February 1957) is a Belgian film director, screenwriter and playwright. His films especially focus on a respectful and sympathetic portrayal of people with mental and physical disabilities. Robert Frank "Bob" Swaim, Jr. (born November 2, 1943) is an American film director. Life and career Swaim was born in Evanston, Illinois, the son of Eleanor (Connor) and Robert Frank Swaim. He grew up in the Reseda area of Los Angeles and graduated from Reseda High School in 1961. He received a degree in anthropology from California State University, Northridge, then called San Fernando Valley State College, in 1965. Swaim then went to France to work on his doctorate in ethnology. He studied at the Collège de France with Claude Lévi-Strauss and at L'École des Langues Orientales with Georges Ballandier. Eduardo Serra
Eduardo Martins Serra (born 2 October 1943) is a Portuguese cinematographer who has spent most of his career working in European film productions, mostly in French, Portuguese and British films, with frequent collaborations with directors Patrice Leconte and Claude Chabrol. Serra is best known for his work on the final two Harry Potter films, ''Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1'' and ''Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2'' .
