Ágúst Björgvinsson
Ágúst Sigurður Björgvinsson (born 16 January 1979) is an Icelandic professional basketball coach who last coached Úrvalsdeild karla (basketball), Úrvalsdeild karla club Valur men's basketball, Valur. He was the head coach of the Iceland women's national basketball team, Icelandic women's national basketball team from 2007 to 2009 and won back-to-back national championships with Haukar women's basketball, Haukar women's team in 2006 and 2007. Coaching career Ágúst was the head coach of Haukar women's basketball, Haukar women's team from 2004 to 2007. In 2005, he helped the club to its first major title in thirteen years, winning the Icelandic Women's Basketball Cup, Icelandic Women's Cup. Valur Men's Basketball
The Valur men's basketball team, commonly known as Valur, is a basketball team based in Reykjavík, Iceland. It is part of the Valur multi-sport club. History The club was founded as ''Gosi'' on 25 December 1951 and was one of the founding members of the Icelandic men's top division. On 22 December 1957 the club changed its name to ''Körfuknattleiksfélag Reykjavíkur'' (English: Reykjavík Basketball Club) and played under that name until 1970. On 3 October 1970 the club merged into Valur sports club and became its basketball department. Under the new name, Valur had considerable success in the 1980's, winning the Icelandic championship two times, in 1980 and 1983, and the Icelandic cup three times, 1980, 1981 and 1983. ''Morgunblaðið'' (, ''The Morning Paper'') is an Icelandic newspaper. ''Morgunblaðið''s website, mbl.is, is the most popular website in Iceland. History ''Morgunblaðið'' was founded by Vilhjálmur Finsen and Ólafur Björnsson, brother of Iceland's first president. The first issue, only eight pages long, was published on 2 November 1913. Finnur Freyr Stefánsson (born 29 October 1983) is an Icelandic professional basketball coach. With KR, he won the Icelandic championship five years in a row from 2014 to 2018 and the Icelandic Men's Basketball Cup in 2016 and 2017. He has served as an assistant coach to the Icelandic men's national basketball team from 2014, helping the team to EuroBasket 2015 and EuroBasket 2017. Icelandic Women's Basketball Company Cup
The Icelandic Women's Basketball Company Cup, commonly known as the Women's Company Cup (Icelandic: Fyrirtækjabikar kvenna), was an annual basketball competition between clubs in Iceland that was organized by the Icelandic Basketball Federation. It was Iceland's second-tier cup competition, and is not to be confused with Iceland's first-tier cup competition, the Icelandic Cup. History and format The Company Cup was founded in 2000 and its first edition, bearing the name ''Kjörísbikarinn'' after its sponsor ''Kjörís'', took place in December that year. It included all five Úrvalsdeild kvennaa teams and three teams from the second-tier 1. deild kvenna, with Keflavík, KFÍ, KR and ÍS advancing to the final four.
