.SIS
SIS is an acronym that stands for ''Software Installation Script'', the standard software installation package format for Symbian OS. SIS files are an archive, containing installation instructions, the application file (usually an .APP or . EXE file), and its dependencies. The basic approach is to create a package definition file (.pkg) that contains information about the package like the vendor, package name and what files to include in the package. PackageForge
PackageForge is a commercial graphical installation and packaging software tool for Symbian OS based smartphones. PackageForge allows developers to graphically create software installation packages that can be installed to a Symbian OS based phone. After installation a user can start using the installed software application. PackageForge works by providing a graphical interface towards the Symbian package definition files (.pkg). The developer provides information about the package, like the vendor, package name, version and what application files to include. After the package has been defined, the package is compiled and built into a Symbian installation file (.sis) which is then ready to be uploaded to the Nokia OVI store or for direct installation on a phone. MBM is shortened from MultiBitMap which, as the name suggests, is a container for a set of bitmap images. The contained bitmaps are not stored verbatim. The Series 90 (formerly ''Hildon'') is a platform for mobile phones that use Symbian OS. It was developed by Nokia in collaboration with Psion.
