''$9.99'' is a 2008 Australian stop-motion adult animated drama film written and directed by Tatia Rosenthal, with the screenplay by Etgar Keret. Tatia Rosenthal
Tatia Rosenthal (born April 4, 1971) is an animator and film director born in Tel Aviv, Israel. She served two years in the Israeli Defense Force, tried her hand at medical school and studied photography in Paris, before moving to New York City to attend the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. Rosenthal currently works as a freelance director and animator in New York. She frequently collaborates with Israeli author Etgar Keret. As an NYU student she created the award-winning short film ''Crazy Glue'' (1998), which is based on an Etgar Keret story. In 2005 she directed ''A Buck's Worth'', a ''stop-motion'' short film based on another Keret story. ''A Buck's Worth'' was used as proof of concept for the feature film ''$9.99''. Roy Harwood Billing (born 1947) is a New Zealand television actor, now based on Waiheke Island, New Zealand. He was brought up in Ruawai, Northland, New Zealand. Etgar Keret ( he, אתגר קרת, born August 20, 1967) is an Israeli writer known for his short stories, graphic novels, and scriptwriting for film and television. Personal life Keret was born in Ramat Gan, Israel in 1967. He is a third child to parents who survived the Holocaust. Both of his parents are from Poland. He studied at Ohel Shem high school, and at the Adi Lautman Interdisciplinary Programme for Outstanding Students of Tel Aviv University.
