!!! ( ), also known as Chk Chk Chk, is an American rock band from Sacramento, California, formed in 1996 by lead singer Nic Offer. Members of !!! came from other local bands such as the Yah Mos, Black Liquorice and Pope Smashers. They are currently based in New York City. The band's ninth album, ''Let It Be Blue'', was released in May 2022. Background and history !!! was formed in the fall of 1996 by the merger of members of the groups Black Liquorice and Pope Smashers, while on tour. After a successful joint tour, the two bands decided to mix the disco-funk with more aggressive sounds and integrate the hardcore singer Nic Offer from the Yah Mos. The band's name was inspired by the subtitles of the movie ''The Gods Must Be Crazy'', in which the clicking sounds of the San people's Juǀʼhoan language were represented as "!". ''Louden Up Now'' is the second studio album by American dance-punk band !!!. Released on July 27, 2004, through Touch and Go Records in the United States and Warp Records in the rest of the world, the album was greeted by mainly positive reviews from critics, with AllMusic hailing it as "a modern-day agit-pop indie dance-rock classic." ''Louden Up Now'' sees the group continue to meld funky dance rhythms with post-punk influences. Originally one edition of the album included a bonus disc containing a clean version. The LP edition track listing is the same as the CD version, although track 10 is omitted. Side one is tracks 1 and 2, side two is tracks 3 to 5, side three is tracks 6 and 7, and side four is tracks 8 and 9. A two-disc version was released in some countries containing 4 additional tracks on a second disc. One of the tracks was "Sunday 5.17 AM", which was later rerecorded for ''Myth Takes'' as "Yadnus". Nicholas Joseph Offer (born 1972) is a New York City–based musician. He is best known as the vocalist of the dance-punk band !!!, which he helped form in Sacramento, California, in 1996. Offer played bass and keyboards for the electronic band Out Hud Out Hud was an American electronic band formed in 1996 in the Bay Area of California and later based in New York City. Out Hud was an American electronic band formed in 1996 in the Bay Area of California and later based in New York City. The band consisted of guitarist Nic Offer, bassist Tyler Pope, cellist Molly Schnick, vocalist/drummer Phyllis Forbes and mixer Justin Van Der Volgen. Pope, Offer, and Van Der Volgen are also members of the similar band, !!!. Their first album, '' S.T.R.E.E.T. D.A.D.'' was instrumental. For their second album, '' Let Us Never Speak Of It Again'', the group added vocals to their music, with Forbes singing lead while a drum machine filled in her usual role, assisted with Schnick on backing vocals. Touch and Go Records is an American independent record label based in Chicago, Illinois. After its genesis as a handmade fanzine in 1979, it grew into one of the key record labels in the American 1980s underground and alternative rock scenes. Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) are an English electronic music, electronic band formed in Wirral Peninsula, Wirral, Merseyside, in 1978.
