Hebron
Hebron ( ar, الخليل or ; he, חֶבְרוֹן ) is a Palestinian. city in the southern West Bank, south of Jerusalem. Nestled in the Judaean Mountains, it lies above sea level. The second-largest city in the West Bank (after East Jerusalem), and the third-largest in the Palestinian territories (after East Jerusalem and Gaza), it has a population of over 215,000 Palestinians (2016), and seven hundred Jewish settlers concentrated on the outskirts of its Old City. It includes the Cave of the Patriarchs, which Jewish, Christian, and Islamic traditions all designate as the burial site of three key patriarchal/ matriarchal couples. Old City Of Hebron
The Old City of Hebron ( he, עיר העתיקה של חברון ar, البلدة القديمة الخليل) is the historic city centre of Hebron in the West Bank, Palestine. The Hebron of antiquity is thought by archaeologists to have originally started elsewhere, at Tel Rumeida, which is approximately west of today's Old City, and thought to have originally been a Canaanite city. Today's Old City was settled in Greek or Roman times (''circa'' 3rd to 1st centuries BCE). It became the center of the overall Hebron site during the Abbasid Caliphate (which began ''circa'' 750 CE). It was recognized as the third World Heritage Site in the State of Palestine in 2017. List Of Cities In Palestinian Authority Areas
The following is a list of cities administered by the Palestinian National Authority. After the 1995 Interim Agreements, the Palestinian National Authority took control of civil affairs in both designated Areas, A and B, where most Palestinian population centers are located (except those within the municipal borders of East Jerusalem). Israel Defense Forces are responsible for security in Area B in the West Bank and have full control over localities in Area C. Israeli Settlement
Israeli settlements, or Israeli colonies, are civilian communities inhabited by Israeli citizens, overwhelmingly of Jewish ethnicity, built on lands occupied by Israel in the 1967 Six-Day War. The international community considers Israeli settlements to be illegal under international law, though Israel disputes this. The Hebron Governorate ( ar, محافظة الخليل, Muḥāfaẓat al-Ḫalīl) is an administrative district of Palestine in the southern West Bank. Tayseer Abu Sneineh
Tayseer Abu Sneineh (alt. Tisir Abu Sneina) is a Palestinian Arab politician, a former member of the Fatah party, and Mayor of Hebron, in the West Bank. He was convicted by Israel for taking part in the 1980 Hebron terrorist attack, who caused death to 6 unarmed civilians. He was elected Mayor of Hebron on 14 May 2017. Abu Sneina has been lecturing voluntarily to Palestinian youth on the 1980 terrorist act. Background Sneinah is a former math teacher and a graduate of the University of Jordan, in Amman. Jacob
Jacob (; ; ar, يَعْقُوب, Yaʿqūb; gr, Ἰακώβ, Iakṓb), later given the name Israel, is regarded as a patriarch of the Israelites and is an important figure in Abrahamic religions, such as Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
